How to install LED power supply


1. How to calculate the main line diameter


More than 80% of advertising stores are installed with one main line pulled down, and 2.5 square wires are popular in the world. The result is uneven brightness of luminous characters or burning of wire ends. Even if one main line is pulled down, it is necessary to use the main line diameter reasonably to avoid problems


As shown in the figure: it is known that the total of the four words is 240W, and the power supply is 12V output. First, calculate the current of the four words, and then divide it by the carrying current of 6A per square to calculate the required wire diameter


Total current calculation of luminous characters: 240W ÷ 12V = 20A main line diameter calculation: 20a ÷ 6A per square meter carrying current = 4 through the above calculation method, it can be calculated that the main line diameter needs 4 square meters


2. Schematic diagram of correct installation of LED power supply

The live line at the input terminal is L and the zero line is N. to ensure the safety of use and reduce interference, please ensure that the ground terminal is reliably grounded. (the diameter of grounding wire is larger than awg18 #) for products without grounding protection, it is normal to feel a slight numbness when touching the product shell or output end, which will not cause harm to human body. And please install a two-wire leakage protection switch between the product and the mains to ensure safe use. If a single line switch is used, please connect it to the live line. The output DC positive pole is + V and the negative pole is - V. Please select the appropriate connecting wire according to the standard of 6A current per square millimeter load according to the output current of the product.


When installing and wiring the product, please carefully check and check the terminal symbols. Do not connect the input AC terminal and the output DC terminal reversely or connect the output + - positive and negative electrodes reversely. Wrong wiring will lead to product damage, safety accidents and other serious consequences.

Special attention: the power supply must not be installed lower than the place where people can touch it at will to prevent the danger of electric shock!!!


Considering the installation space of customers, the system needs large power and needs parallel power supply. Constant voltage and constant current power supply can be selected.


Advantages: effectively realize shunt and protect power supply. Warm tip: please do not connect in parallel unless you have to, because it is inevitable that the reverse currents between the power supplies will impact each other and affect the normal operation of the power supply.


4. Correct way of grounding wire


Prevent electric shock hazard to personnel when equipment insulation is damaged 2. Prevent electrostatic hazard to equipment itself and personnel 3. The best effect can be achieved only after anti-interference circuit is grounded 4. Prevent lightning stroke (inductive lightning) from damaging electrical equipment 5. Prevent high-voltage electric field generated from incoming end to outgoing end in wet environment such as rain from damaging electrical equipment


Ground wire = line of life


Matters needing attention

Equipment ground wire cannot be shared with lightning protection ground wire (lightning rod / direct lightning protection)

The ground wire shall be able to bear 25A current or above, and the conductor shall be embedded by itself. The distance between the ground wire and the embedded point of lightning protection ground wire shall not be less than 20m


5. Wiring mode of light box


Wrong way: one line is pulled to the end, the brightness is uneven, the line load is too heavy, and it is easy to burn the wire end and the power connection port.


Correct way: the ending outgoing line is connected to the circuit; Middle cut wiring, current shunting to both ends, saving wire consumption.
